Wealthsimple

Making financial freedom simple for millions of Canadians, with a team that owns it

Wealthsimple set out in 2014 to strip the jargon and hidden fees out of Canadian investing. It now serves more than 3.4 million clients with about $125 billion in assets. Employees work remote-first, can spend 90 days a year working abroad and hold equity in the company. In 2025 Canadian and global investors backed it at a C$10-billion valuation.

01 · Culture

How they work

Our viewWealthsimple treats ownership as something employees actually hold: permanent staff receive equity, and the company says its parental-leave playbook was co-written by an employee resource group. Its remote-first culture includes the 90 Days Away program, protected Maker Days and quarterly Async Weeks for deep work. It is also opening doors early, with a paid year-long Launchpad internship for recent high-school graduates.

Its October 2025 round raised up to C$750 million at a C$10-billion valuation, brought in CPP Investments and gave the company a balance sheet that its CEO ties to an eventual public listing.
